Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) services are individually designed for waiver participants who have significant behavioral difficulties that jeopardize their ability to remain in the community. PBIS should be provided in situations where significant maladaptive behavior occurs. Included within this service is a comprehensive assessment of the individual’s behavior, skills, and abilities, surrounding environment, a network of informal and paid supports, family, and caregivers, the development and implementation of a holistic structured behavioral detailed plan), the training of family, informal supports, and other providers so that they can also effectively use the basic principles of the behavioral plan, and regular reassessments, data collection and adjustments to the plan as needed.
