Assistive technology (AT) is a service that directly assists a participant in selecting, attaining, and use of an assistive technology device. Per the waiver manual, An Assistive Technological device may include an item, piece of equipment, or product system, whether acquired commercially, modified, or customized, that is used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of the waiver participants. Examples of AT include but are not limited to, an electric Hoyer lift, an electric reclining lift chair, a Personal Emergency Response System (PERS), a portable ramp, or a motorized wheelchair. Your Service Coordinator will support you in exploring AT devices that support your independence and health & safety collaboratively with your physician and Physical Therapist!
